Apple Mac Recovery
The
HFS/HFS+ File systems store
data in different ways to the FAT and NTFS file systems used by other
operating systems. This
requires at a logical level a totally different approach and
methodology
when it comes to recovery.
For
generic hard drive faults of a
logical, electrical or mechanical nature please see our Desktop or Laptop hard drive pages.
Below
is a list of typical errors
a Mac system may display:
- Bad File Names
- Drive not mounting
- Drive not installed
- Incorrect HFS volume
- Disk not initialized
- Disk error
- Drive offline
- File system error
- Volume not recognised
- File vault issues
HFS/HFS+ file systems are also commonly used in RAID arrays especially for storing high quality photos.
Please see our RAID
page for types of array and faults that may affect them.
