Data Destruction Procedures
DataWreck's Secure
Data Destruction procedures are clear, comprehensive and follow strict
procedure to ensure that every item is documented and accounted for
from acquisition through to destruction and certification.
Acquisition
- Stage 1 - All media is double counted by the customer ready for
hand over to DataWreck.
- Stage 2 - All media is signed over to DataWreck (Or Secure
Courier) by starting off a Chain-of-Custody form. This maintains
a fully documented audit trail of all media to be destroyed. This
will be returned to the customer at the end of the process so they can
be satisfied of that data security has not been breached.
Logistics
Security in the logistical stage is overlooked by many data destruction companies. Most data security breaches occur during transportation as highlighted during some high profile data security breaches by UK Government departments.
- Stage 3 (Optional) - DataWreck can provide a wide range of logistics options including standard couriers, dedicated secure couriers, Government Security Cleared (SC) drivers, proffesional security contractors or DataWreck's own logistics service.
The Destruction Process
- Stage 4 - All media is counted and documented by DataWreck's
secure data destruction team. Photographs or video can be taken
if requested. The Chain-of-Custody form will be signed to
complete the audit trail from the logistics to the destruction phases.
- Stage 5 - Each item of media will be tallied by our team as it passes from the box through the destruction process. This will be documented and can be photographed if requested.
- Stage 6 - All waste material will be separated ready for the
recycling process.
Certification
- Stage 7 - Secure Destruction Certificates, WEEE certificate, Chain-of-Custody documents, tally charts and photographic evidence will be collated and sent to the customer.
